On 11 November at 12 noon, Dr Edmund Fordham was in West Suffolk House whilst his nomination papers were meticulously checked by staff in Electoral Services. Nigel Farage's Press Conference started at 12:05 pm and Edmund learned of the content only afterwards. This led to brief appearances on Look East and News at Ten showing his now useless nomination papers.
His advice to his supporters in the constituency of Bury St Edmunds is to spoil their ballot papers.
Subsequently Edmund decided to stand as an Independent in the constituency of south-east Cambridgeshire, which is where he lives, and where the Brexit Party PPC was also stood down. Former Brexit Party PPC Vivienne Robinson acted as his Proposer.
